Start here for dinner. The stone-fired pizza is legitimately great. The pasta holds up. And the atmosphere on High Street is exactly what you come to Short North for. Happy hour runs some of the best deals in the neighborhood — craft drinks and shareable plates at prices that won’t hurt on a Friday night.
The Pearl
Craving seafood? The Pearl is the move. Oysters, fish and chips, craft cocktails. The vibe feels like a much more expensive city than Columbus. Exposed brick and original hardwood floors give the place a history that most new restaurants spend years trying to fake.
The Rossi
Great for a date night or a small group dinner. The menu runs modern American. The cocktails rotate. And the crowd doesn’t try too hard. The Rossi sits slightly off the main High Street rush, which makes it feel like a discovery — even though everyone who lives here already knows about it.
Best for Breakfast and Lunch
Northstar Café
This is the breakfast and lunch spot, full stop. The ricotta pancakes bring people back every visit. The veggie burger is the best we’ve found anywhere in Columbus. Ingredients are locally sourced, and the restaurant doesn’t make a performance out of it. Expect long waits on weekend mornings. Get there before 9am or after 1pm.
Brassica
Mediterranean fast casual done right. Fast, affordable, and genuinely good. The chicken shawarma bowl is what we’d order every single day. Strong pick for lunch when you want something filling without a long sit-down.
Best for Groups
The Eagle
Fried chicken, a huge outdoor patio, and a crowd that’s always in a good mood. The patio handles big groups easily. Nobody complains about fried chicken and mac and cheese. Dogs are welcome on the patio too — we get that question a lot from guests traveling with their dogs.
Bakersfield
Tacos and margaritas in a space that runs louder and more fun than you expect. Perfect for a first night out when the group wants to hang and nobody feels like committing to a formal dinner. Easy, social, and always a good call.
Best for Brunch
The Guild House
Want brunch that feels like an event? Come here. Order the Lobster and Eggs. It’s a Cameron Mitchell restaurant, so the service runs tight. Visitors consistently say it feels like they’ve stumbled onto something special. It’s not a secret — but it still feels like one.
